Psychotherapy is a collaborative process based on the relationship between an individual and a therapist with the goals of relieving distress, identifying and changing patterns, and improving and maintaining mental health and well-being. People consider therapy for many reasons, including difficulty managing thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that are negatively impacting relationships, day-to-day activities, and an ability to feel stability, safety, and happiness in life.
Psychotherapy may include a wide range of strategies, tools, and techniques (often called interventions), that aim to support the goals of therapy. Proven effective for a broad range of emotional and mental health challenges, the approach and interventions used will be unique and designed to fit each individual's needs and circumstances, and it is important that you discuss these topics in your initial consultation to better understand how the process may look for you.
Working with a therapist in a safe and warm environment can lead to new perspectives, grow your insights and self-awareness, and provide opportunities for healing and positive change. My approach to therapy is flexible, integrative and holistic. As each person is unique, as is their life journey, I work with clients to understand what influences you and how you show up in your environment. I draw from therapeutic modalities that focus on collaboration, working together with you to build a deeper awareness of the mind-body connection, and promoting self-awareness and self-acceptance through mindfulness and compassion.
I work with you to be more curious and accepting of your experiences, to develop strategies to move through the challenges in life, to heal residual pain from the past, and to create more satisfying relationships and a healthier sense of self. I am here to walk with you on this part of your journey, to support you in reconnecting with your authentic self, and to support you in bringing light, meaning, and purpose to each moment. I generally do not view people in diagnostic terms and I am interested in helping clients find a personally meaningful way of approaching life.
